When two worlds collide: there’s a new sound on the block. Sheyi Martins-Allen and Matthew Farrow combine to exist as Clap & Thunder. For two people with influences as diverse as 80’s soul singers – think Toni Braxton, Anita Baker, Jimi Hendrix, Quincy Jones and Kraftwerk, Clap & Thunder was never going to be anything other than an ever evolving fusion.
Sheyi and Matt met where so many musical unions have been made, at a gig Sheyi was singing at in Soho. Matt was impressed with the vocals enough to suggest they try something together. Music being a wonderful unruly thing, when the two got together Clap & Thunder was born and became the unique sum of its parts and influences.
Their duel ‘night and day’ versions of songs are now running on their website, and somehow supply a soundtrack for these times; in one guise abrasive and unforgiving and yet, the same song in its day persona can calm the waves of angst.
Fans are encouraged to choose which version they prefer.
